The ESRM team is made up of two project officers Kaz Johnson and Richard Glover. The steering committee for the project is made up of Rangelands NRM, Department of Environment and Conservation representatives, Pastoralists, Gascoyne Catchments Project steering committee members, Department of Agriculture and Food, Minerals Council of WA and the Pastoral Lands Board.




Kaz grew up on a cattle and sheep property in South Australia and has a background in Earth Sciences. She spent several years working in Australia’s Rangelands of NT, SA, NSW and WA in the shearing industry, eco-tourism and indigenous resource management projects. Kaz has been based in Carnarvon since the beginning of 2009. Prior to that she was based in Geraldton.

Kaz’s main focus in the ESRM team is building knowledge and promoting an understanding of landscape function and the ecology of our vast rangelands.








Richard is from Perth, WA. He completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at UWA specialising in rangeland ecology. He worked at Mt Stuart station after finishing school and has worked in a variety of roles in the agricultural industry including a computer mapper with CSBP and a Technical officer with a prominent canola breeding company.

His focus within the ESRM team is advice and design of grazing systems and GIS work including property mapping and using remote sensing software such as Vegmachine to assess vegetation condition and past trends in vegetation cover. He has been in Carnarvon since the beginning of 2008.
